don't let the blogs die!

To whom this may concern,

Please do not abandon your blogs for Facebook.

It's not the same.

Thank you.

consider this:

"It is not scientific doubt, not atheism, not pantheism, not agnosticism, that in our day and in this land is likely to quench the light of the gospel. It is a proud, sensuous, selfish, luxurious, church-going, hollow-hearted prosperity."

Frederic D. Huntington, Forum Magazine, 1890

weekend happs and the new venn

2006 Taxes, done.
Eragon, read.
The Departed, watched. Best Picture? Enh.

Were I more web saavy, I'd show an actual Venn diagram, but for now, imagine with me the three circles of my new career direction:

1. Fount of Mercy - Networking, researching, piloting, developing curriculum.
2. Tutoring/Teaching - The current way to fund the non-paying status of circle #1.
3. Freelance Writing - Been wanting to do this for a long time! Must focus!

We are going into Brooklyn classes today to test-pilot some initial ideas on, let's call it, 'global citizenship' for students who've never left New York. It's pretty exciting. I'm more entrepreneurial than I thought, and am ECSTATIC about NOT having to reside 10+ hours a day in a cubicle!

"The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet." F. Buechner

Hoping this is so!

i think he heard me

I'm excited about a new opportunity to work with this group. This opened up just TODAY! God heard I was going cuckoo!

Fount of Mercy

I'm going to try and help them develop curriculum to engage NYC students on the orphan crisis in Africa. Just exactly what I was looking for, minus the salary.

disorient

Jesus asked his disciples, "Who do the people say the Son of Man is?"
They replied, "Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah and still others,
Jeremiah or one of the prophets."
"But what about you," he asked, "Who do you say I am?"
~Matt 16:15

My friend NLW's take on this passage is that: Jesus knows the crowds are offended and confused by him, and he wants to hear that SOMEONE gets him, wants it confirmed that his closest companions really know who he is.

What about you, who do you say I am?

I'm disoriented lately, to the point where I'm sporadically doing my best Les Miserables Jean Valjean, "Who am I? Can I condemn this man to slaveryyyyyy, pretend I do not see his aaaaaaagony?"

And I think back to a high school hallway quote,

"I have gone to look for myself, if I should get back before I return, keep me here!"

I repeat, if I should get back before I return, keep me here!!!
